Arsenal have joined Manchester United in the hunt for the Germany international Mario Gotze after his agent slammed Bayern Munich for their treatment of the player.
Gotze, who was strongly linked with Arsenal before joining Bayern, has yet to fully establish himself at the Bundesliga club, despite his obvious talent.
His agent, Volker Struth, has blasted Bayern and manager Pep Guardiola for their "poor treatment" of Gotze, saying "he needs more support".
And, according to The Daily Star, these shock comments have sparked fresh transfer talk, with the Gunners and United in a two-way battle for the German, who is apparently valued at £49.6 million.
The Metro, meanwhile, says Arsenal have been cleared to sign Karim Benzema, with Real Madrid reportedly open to selling him.
The Gunners are even believed to be preparing a £17.8 million bid for the France international.

Man United are also thought to be interested in Benzema, as they look to replace Radamel Falcao.
Mikel Arteta has finally signed a new contract - and that may stop Arsene Wenger from dipping into the market for a new midfielder, suggests The Mirror.

However, the Spaniard, who received lucrative offers from his home country, has committed himself and will be on the club's pre-season trip to Singapore.
Arsenal's long-term target, Morgan Schneiderlin, is set to join Manchester United as soon as they meet Southampton's £25 million asking price, while the Gunners are not interested in Arturo Vidal and Ilkay Gundogan has signed a new deal at Borussia Dortmund.
Colombian keeper David Ospina - set to be ousted by new £10 million signing Petr Cech - is in no rush to quit the Emirates.
Ospina has been a target for Fenerbahce but will have talks with Arsenal after his return from an extended break after the Copa America.
