- But Rooney has insisted he wants to stay at Old Trafford following several reports linking him with a move away from the club.

- Liverpool are set to launch a £10million bid for Newcastle striker Demba Ba, according to the Daily Star Sunday.

- Manchester United are preparing to launch a summer bid to sign Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric, according to the Mail on Sunday.

- And Man Utd are still said to be considering launching a bid for Bolton defender Gary Cahill, according to The People.

- Manchester City have joined the race to sign Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote, according to the Sunday Mirror.

- Liverpool and Manchester City are still said to be showing interest in Barcelona defender Eric Abidal, according to L'Equipe.

- Arsenal will launch an £8million bid for FC Koln striker Lukas Podolski this summer, reports the Mail on Sunday.
