Chelsea FC to sign Gary Cahill as medical passed and personal terms agreed

Chelsea are set to complete the signing of Gary Cahill by Monday after agreeing personal terms with the Bolton defender.

Cahill was at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to watch his new side take on Sunderland in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old had travelled to London on Friday night and on Saturday morning underwent a medical with the west London club ahead of a move that will cost the Blues a total of around £28million.

Chelsea have agreed a £7m fee with Bolton for the centre-back, who will complete his move after agreeing a five-year contract believed to be worth £80,000 a week.

The move was in doubt earlier in the week as a result of the England international's wage demands, with Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas revealing on Thursday that personal terms with Cahill were still being discussed - some two weeks after a transfer fee had been agreed.

As of Friday afternoon, it was thought that a deal could still be completed by the weekend, but prior Cahill travelling to London, Bolton boss Owen Coyle had indicated that he could have featured in the Trotters' trip to Manchester United should there have been any further delays.

Cahill, who was also understood to be a target for United, is expected to be unveiled by Chelsea on Monday morning.
