Liverpool FC to sign FC Barcelona midfielder Alexander Hleb?

Liverpool and QPR are reportedly showing interest in signing Barcelona midfielder Alexander Hleb.

The 30-year-old, who has returned to Camp Nou following an unsuccessful loan spell at Wolfsburg, is unlikely to feature for the Catalans at the second half of the season.

And according to Metro, both Liverpool and QPR have been alerted as Barca look to offload the former Arsenal midfielder.

Hleb left Arsenal to join the reigning Spanish and European champions in 2008 but has failed to impress coach Pep Guardiola.

As well as spending time on loan at Wolfsburg, the Belarus international has also been shipped out to Stuttgart and Birmingham City over the past couple of years.

Hleb is said to earn around £90,000-a-week wages at Camp Nou and Barca are ready to make him a free agent with immediate effect.

According to the report, Hleb is prepared to accept a pay off from the Spanish giants and is keen on a return to the Premier League.

Speaking last year, Hleb had criticised Guardiola and also admitted he was frustrated with being left on the sidelines.

"Barcelona is the biggest club in the world but it is difficult when you are not from Spain," he said while on loan at Birmingham.

"It has happened with everybody - with [Thierry] Henry, everyone. Josep Guardiola picks the Spanish players.

"I've not had a lot of chances to play there and I would prefer to stay in the Premier League."
