Arsenal
Arsenal and Chelsea are locked in a transfer-window battle for Crewe’s brilliant young hot shot Nick Powell. (Mirror)
Verdict: At 17 he's tipped as one for the future. No, doesn't sound Arsene Wenger's bag at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Aston Villa
Alex McLeish is ready to give Robbie Keane a shock return to the Premier League if he can cut through red tape. (Mirror)
Verdict: Villa are in need of firepower, especially when Darren Bent's off on his shopping trips.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn are lining up a bid for £5m-rated Watford striker Marvin Sordell. (The Sun)
Verdict: Sounds like over the odds for an unproven player, i.e. a distincly Steve Keanesque move.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Bolton Wanderers
Owen Coyle is ready to drop down to League Two to find a replacement for Gary Cahill by bidding £1m for Crawley's Kyle McFadzean. (Sun)
Verdict: Highly likely. Matter of when Cahill will leave rather than if he leaves this month.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Chelsea
Andre Villas-Boas wants Blackburn's Steven Nzonzi to save his season and is poised to make a £7m bid. (Metro)
Verdict: Plausible given Chelsea are lacking bit of bite in midfield.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Everton
David Moyes has joined the chase for Huddersfield's Jordan Rhodes - but will have to find £4 million to get the new Scotland cap. (Mirror)
Verdict: Another day and another club linked with the Huddersfield hotshot. The Terriers could have a nice little auction on their hands.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Fulham
Fulham are considering a £4 million bid for West Ham striker Carlton Cole should they sell Bobby Zamora. (Telegraph)
Verdict: Solid move for all parties concerned.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Liverpool
Liverpool could be ready to launch a surprise bid for England international striker Darren Bent. (This is Anfield)
Verdict: Move north will come at a price.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Manchester City
Roberto Mancini wants to make Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi his first signing of the transfer window. (Sun)
Verdict: Surely it's a case of when rather than if with City. First of a few new faces no doubt...once Tevez has been flogged that is.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Manchester United
Sir Alex Ferguson will offer £25m plus a pick of a number of squad players in exchange for Eden Hazard. (CaughtOffside)
Verdict: It's the walking wounded at Old Trafford so offloading a number of fringe players at this moment in time seems unlikely.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Newcastle United
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew would jump at the chance to take Kop flop Andy Carroll back to Tyneside. (The Sun)
Verdict: Stranger things have happened. A swap deal involving Coloccini? And probably several million pounds to Newcastle.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Norwich City
Nottingham Forest want £2.5million for Welsh defender Chris Gunter. Norwich have had two bids waved away for the full-back. (The Sun)
Verdict: Fits the bill of buying from the lower leagues which has served Paul Lambert well, but Fulham and Blackburn are also interested.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Queens Park Rangers
QPR have made a £7million bid for Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic. (Mail)
Verdict: Rangers to Rangers? Neil Warnock is not messing around.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Stoke City
Stoke are prepared to offload winger Jermaine Pennant as they set their sights on Blackburn Rovers' Junior Hoilett. (Mail)
Verdict: Offloading Pennant. Surely not. Oh wait, he hasn't had a move in over a year. He's due one.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Sunderland
Martin O’Neill will run the rule over the Sunderland players out on loan as he continues to assess his playing squad. (Sunderland Echo)
Verdict: Well that sounds sensible. But not sure Asamoah Gyan's coming back any time soon.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Swansea City
Swansea appear to have won the race to sign Cliftonville striker Rory Donnelly, who was targeted by Liverpool and Everton. (Liverpool Echo)
Verdict: 'Appear' seems good enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham are set to raid Blackburn for giant centre-half Chris Samba in an £8million swoop. (Mirror)
Verdict: Harry is unlikely to play his cards early. Expect a last-minute bid for the defender if his squad is down to the bare bones.
----------------------------------------------------------------
West Bromwich Albion
Albion were today on alert for a possible January transfer scramble for Nikica Jelavic after Roy Hodgson made a personal check on the Rangers striker. (Express and Star)
Verdict: Join the queue, chaps. Several other Premier League clubs are interested.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Wigan Athletic
Tony Pulis is being linked with a move for Wigan's Mohamed Diame but faces competition from Wolves and Real Betis for the midfielder. (Sentanta)
Verdict: Diame's off. Everyone always leaves Wigan at the first possible opportunity.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolves are ready to offload Andy Keogh in January. (Yorkshire Evening Post)
Verdict: Leeds are the side most likely to sign the Republic of Ireland international striker.
