Verdict: Hamsik is a quality player, but Chelsea don't need another midfielder.

Verdict: Arshavin has failed to settle at the Emirates since his big-money move from Zenit St Petersburg.
Barcelona left-back Eric Abidal has emerged as a free transfer target for Liverpool. (Metro)
Verdict: If Dalglish can beat off competition from Man City, this one looks like it has legs.
Manchester City
Manchester City are considering making a £60 million move for Wayne Rooney. (Mirror)
Verdict: It would be the transfer of the century.... and Sir Alex Ferguson will never let it happen.
Manchester United
United have emerged as late contenders for the signature of Bolton defender Gary Cahill. (People)
Verdict: Vidic and Smalling are injured, meaning Ferguson is in need of an experienced centre back.
Newcastle United
