Arsenal FC-Olivier Giroud deal '90 per cent' reveals Arsene Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed a deal for Montpeller striker Olivier Giroud is "90 per cent" done.

Giroud earlier this week dismissed reports that he has agreed to join Arsenal this summer, despite his club confirming talks with the Gunners had been taking place.

But Wenger has now confirmed that a deal is close, and admits he is excited by the 25-year-old's potential.

Speaking to French TV station TF1, the Frenchman said: "Giroud didn't play much [at the Euros so far], but he's going to be an Arsenal player 90 per cent next season.

"I think he has exceptional potential and will integrate very well in our collective and our way of playing.

"He is a real team player and knows how to combine with other players and I'm sure he will do well with us."

Wenger also said he was impressed by Lukas Podolski's performances at Euro 2012 so far.

The Germany striker will complete an £11million move to Arsenal at the end of the tournament, and Wenger, who is working as a pundit during the Euros, added: "Podolski did a great job for the German team, he has superb team work.

"He plays in a cautious way sometimes, but he's still scored a very important goal against Denmark for his 100th cap. I am very happy with what I've seen from him."

Arsenal will pay around £12m for Giroud, who is widely expected to sign a four-year contract.
