Liverpool FC want 'three or four' signings and insist Luis Suarez not for sale

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists Luis Suarez wants to stay at the club amid speculation that Juventus are preparing a bid for the striker.

Suarez, whose future at Liverpool has been a hot topic of conversation ever since his high profile clash with Manchester United defender Patrice Evra last year, last month hinted that he is ready to leave the Premier League following the departure of Kenny Dalglish as Reds boss.

Juventus have been keen on signing the Uruguay international for some time and newspaper reports on Tuesday morning suggested the Serie A champions are ready to make a move for the 25-year-old, who is yet to extend his contract at Anfield despite holding talks with the Anfield hierarchy.

But Rodgers insists Suarez is happy at the club, and is looking forward to next season.

"I’ve had a brilliant chat with Luis,” Rodgers told talkSPORT.

"He’s really looking forward to being here and we are obviously hoping that we can get him on to another new contract. He’s really looking forward to the new season."

Rodgers has been linked with a number of players in recent weeks and revealed he is keen on bringing in several new signings.

"I’m looking forward to bringing in three or four players that can really affect the group," he continued.

"I’ve got a wonderful group of players here at the moment.

"I read every day players that are linked with here and unfortunately, especially for the supporters, it’s a difficult time because you've got agents linking players with Liverpool just purely because it's great for them to be linked with such an institution of a club.

"But the reality is there are very few players who can come and make a difference to Liverpool."
