Arsene Wenger is understood to have held talks with Alexis Sanchez’s representatives, as Arsenal look to rival Liverpool for the Barcelona forward.
The Gunners boss, who is in Brazil working as a TV pundit, is believed to have met Sanchez’s people last week to discuss a transfer to the Emirates after the 25-year-old helped his country end Spain’s World Cup dream.
Spanish paper, El Mundo Deportivo, claims Sanchez’s agent is currently sourcing interest from a host of clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal, in the event that Barcelona, as expected, decide to cash in on the former Udinese frontman.
Juventus are another side said to be paying close attention to the situation, and are believed to have already had an £18 million offer knocked back by Barca.

Arsenal are in desperate need of a striker this summer, and Wenger has already ruled out the possibility of bringing Mario Balotelli to North London.
