- William Carvalho, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United, could be sold by Sporting Lisbon this summer.

"It's not like the old days when players left Sporting at any price," Sporting director Augusto Ignacio told the club’s TV channel.

"We are not concerned with William Carvalho because we have alternatives, who will want to play as well.

"The termination clause ensures a great deal to Sporting. I am very pleased with the negotiations.

"It is not easy to negotiate for players, you need to be very shrewd but Sporting have a president who knows how to negotiate with anyone and what is best for the club."

- New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is hoping to follow up his impending deal for Arsenal skipper Thomas Vermaelen with a swoop for Feyenoord centre-back Stefan de Vrij, according to the Daily Star.

- Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has praised Luis Suarez's "honour" after the Liverpool and Uruguay striker apologised for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini, and hinted at a possible bid from Camp Nou, saying the player can now move on "at Liverpool or somewhere else".
"From my point of view Luis Suarez is not something to be analysed in connection with Barcelona. We always try to be as respectful as we can to other clubs, as I expect other clubs to be respectful towards us," he said.

"I think we know about the circumstances that happened in the World Cup and he's had the character and humility to first recognise that he made a mistake.

"I think that's very important. He had the honour to come out and apologise to the people who had been hurt by his actions; the opposition and also football in general in the middle of a world football festival.

"Now it's time for him to begin his recovery process. I think Luis Suarez did the best thing as a person and I also think as a footballer. What path he now takes, whether he stays at Liverpool or goes somewhere else, we will see.

"But at the moment he's a Liverpool player that's the reality. I have to say the statement does him a lot of honour."

- And Barcelona new signing Ivan Rakitic has said Suarez has "the necessary quality" to join him at Camp Nou this summer.

- Brendan Rodgers is lining up a stunning bid to sign AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli if Liverpool decide to sell Suarez, according to the Daily Express and Metro.

- Arsenal will confirm the signing of France international Mathieu Debuchy after the World Cup, according to the Daily Star.

- Manchester United will make a final push for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels by offering £20million for his services, according to Metro.

- Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Roma centre-back Mehdi Benatia, but are sweating on the Serie A giants' ability to sign a replacement, according to the Daily Mirror.

- Arsenal have joined Liverpool in the race for Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas, according to the Daily Star.

- James Rodriguez is set for a £40million move to Real Madrid - if the Champions League winners can offload Angel Di Maria, according to the Daily Mail.
