Manchester United transfer rumours: Daryl Janmaat back on radar as Patrice Evra is linked with Juventus?

Wanted: Janmaat has seen his stock rise after an impressive World Cup
Here's our wrap of all the latest transfer stories from Old Trafford in Saturday's papers and across the web...

Not giving up on Verm

Manchester United aim to complete the signing of Thomas Vermaelen as soon as Belgium’s World Cup campaign is over, writes our man David McDonnell.
United are poised to seal the £10million capture of Vermaelen as they address the double defensive loss of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.
Belgium take on Argentina in the World Cup quarter-finals tomorrow and their potential exit from the tournament  will accelerate United’s efforts to push through the deal.
The 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of next season and United were hoping to land him for a cut-price fee of around £6m, but Arsenal are understood to be holding out for at least £10m.

Fellaini unfazed by exit talk

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini insists he has "nothing to prove" amid talk of him leaving Old Trafford this summer.
The Belgian  completed a £27.5million switch a year ago, following ex-boss David Moyes from Everton, but endured a hugely disappointing campaign, starting just 12 Premier League games.
And with Ander Herrera arriving, his impact is set to be limited even further with Louis van Gaal reportedly willing to let him depart for a cut-price fee.
Asked if he will still be at Old Trafford next season, Fellaini replied: "We will see after the World Cup. I don't have to prove anything. I've been a professional footballer for eight years."

Vidic risks wrath

Nemanja Vidic has undermined former club Manchester United – by claiming he should have moved to Italy years ago, writes David McDonnell.
Former United skipper Vidic quit Old Trafford this summer after eight years to move to Inter Milan on a free transfer.
He said at his official unveiling: "I should have arrived to Italy many years ago. Finally I have the opportunity to play here.
"I don't think this is a step backwards in my career, I believe this is a step forward for me."

Battle for Janmaat

According to the Mail, Newcastle are to rival United for Dutch right-back Daryl Janmaat.
The Feyenoord man has been linked with following international boss Louis van Gaal to Old Trafford after impressing at the World Cup.
However, the Magpies have now taken an interest in Janmaat as they prepare to lose current full-back Mathieu Debuchy to Arsenal.
United have also reportedly held more talks with Sporting Lisbon over William Carvalho.

€40million minimum for Vidal

United have been told they must fork out at least €40million if they are to sign Juve midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Red Devils are ready to make their move after Vidal admitted he could leave Turin this summer.
And Juve are demanding they meet their valuation for the Chilean or transfer talks will not begin.
Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation but United are eager to steal a march and push the deal through.

Come and join me Pat

Juventus have stepped up their interest in Patrice Evra - by instructing midfielder Paul Pogba to discuss a move with his countryman at the World Cup.
The left-back penned a new one-year deal at Old Trafford in May but he looks set to be the understudy to new recruit Luke Shaw next season.
And with Antonio Conte eager to revamp his squad, Evra's wealth of experience makes him an ideal target.
Tuttosport reports the Juve boss has spoke to Pogba and wants him to smooth over an upcoming bid.
