Fernando Torres to rejoin Atletico as Man City eye £25m Mario Mandzukic

FERNANDO TORRES is on the verge of rejoining Atletico Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

Torres is on loan at AC Milan from Chelsea but has managed just one goal in 10 games.
And according to Spanish sports paper AS, Atletico have sealed a deal with the Blues to bring their former hitman home.

Torres is due to link up with Diego Simeone's men next week, with Italy winger Alessio Cerci heading to Milan.

Chelsea are ready to cut their losses on the 30-year-old, who has proved a disaster since his £50million switch from Liverpool in 2011.

But the decision to let Torres join Atletico could contribute to a former Chelsea target moving to the Premier League.

The west London club were interested in signing Mario Mandzukic last summer before he left Bayern Munich for the Vicente Calderon for a reported £18m.
Arsenal and Manchester United were also keen on Mandzukic, who has scored 14 goals for Atletico this season.

But Manchester City look to have stolen a march on their rivals with a £25m January deal lined up.
According to the Daily Star, Manuel Pellegrini has set his sights on the 28-year-old Croatia marksman after seeing strikers Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic suffer injuries.
