Arsenal and Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao.
The left back, according to the Daily Star, has been offered to both sides by the Spanish giants for a cut-price fee ahead of the transfer deadline.
Coentrao, 26, has been told by Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti he is free to leave the Bernabeu – and although valued at £25million, Real are prepared to accept half that amount to get the Portugal international off the books.
However, it is understood the player’s wages are appearing to put British clubs off making any offer for Coentrao, who had been courted by Manchester United earlier in the window, only for the Red Devils to subsequently cool their interest.
The defender is said to be looking for alternatives in the Premier League, but the Emirates and Anfield appear unlikely destinations – although both rivals may well review the situation again in the summer.
