Man United News: Di Maria EXIT, deal AGREED, Arsenal and Liverpool SNUBBED Depay

Louis van Gaal claims Manchester United were forced to sign Memphis Depay to prevent him joining Paris St-Germain, the Daily Mail report.

The Red Devils confirmed yesterday that the 21-year-old would arrive from PSV Eindhoven in a £25m deal in the summer subject to passing a medical.

And Van Gaal says he would rather have waited until the end of the season to make a move for the Holland international.

Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports that Depay's arrival at Old Trafford could be bad news for Angel Di Maria.

The Argentine has struggled to make an impact at United since joining from Real Madrid last summer in a £59.7m deal.

And given the increased competition in the frontline that Depay's arrival will bring, Redknapp wonders whether Di Maria will look to force an exit.

Brendan Rodgers has claimed Liverpool were never interested in signing Depay as they have bigger transfer priorities, the Liverpool Echo report.

It had been thought that the Reds were leading the race to sign the forward before United secured a deal.

And Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger claims he did not rival United's bid for the 21-year-old as he has enough players in his position, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Metro claim Ilkay Gundogan has agreed to join Manchester United.

The Germany midfielder is set to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer after informing them he would not extend his contract which expires in 2016.

Arsenal were among the clubs keen to secure his signature but it appears United have won the race and look set to wrap up a £20m deal.
