Real are on the lookout for a new manager after sacking Carlo Ancelotti |
The Italian coach, who previously managed a number of other high-profile sides including Chelsea and Milan, was understood to be under pressure, as Real Madrid end the season trophy-less despite spending excessively in the summer on players such as Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.
The Spanish club have scheduled a press conference for later this evening, where Ancelotti’s departure is expected to be confirmed.
Of the early candidates, former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez — who began his career at Real — has been heavily linked with the job.
